R E S O L U T I O N

	WHEREAS, The members of the Greater East Austin Hurricanes 

all-star baseball team are to be applauded for winning their first 

state title in Pony Pinto League coach-pitch baseball; and

	WHEREAS, After defeating Oak Hill 19-14 in the regional 

tournament, the Hurricanes blew through the state tournament 4-0 to 

earn a spot in the championship game; demonstrating the athleticism 

and drive of true champions, these outstanding ball players 

overcame the formidable Groves American All-Stars 16-13 to claim 

the coveted state crown; and

	WHEREAS, Contributing to this total team effort were Elijah 

Lopez, Zach Morgan, Steven Guerrero, Josef Soriano, Richard 

Costilla, Jeremy Paiz, Dominic Salinas, Nick Perez, Joseph Flores, 

and Daniel Lopez; these fine athletes were ably schooled in the 

game's fundamentals by coaches Roy Morgan, Jose Paiz, Joe Flores, 

and Fidel Perez; and

	WHEREAS, Through hard work and dedication, the Hurricanes 

have achieved the pinnacle of success in their sport, and they are a 

source of tremendous pride to their families and friends; now, 

therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 

Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate the Greater 

East Austin Hurricanes all-star baseball team on winning the state 

championship title and extend to them best wishes for continued 

success; and, be it further

	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 

prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas 

House of Representatives.
