H.R. No. 141





R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The tragic death of U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 Christopher Chabot Martin on July 11, 2005, at the age of 31, has shocked and saddened the citizens of the Lone Star State; and WHEREAS, Assigned to Company A, 1st Battalion, 4th Aviation Regiment, he was killed when the Apache helicopter he piloted crashed during a training exercise at Fort Hood; and WHEREAS, A native of Poughkeepsie, New York, Chief Warrant Officer Martin was proud to call himself a Texan; he joined the armed forces after his 1993 graduation from Grapevine High School and demonstrated impressive commitment and drive throughout his military career; and WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have young men and women whose love of country leads them to military service, yet the death of this exemplary soldier is a reminder that the preservation of freedom is not without great cost; the passing of Chief Warrant Officer Martin is a tremendous loss to his family, friends, and fellow soldiers, and his sacrifice in service of this country will not soon be forgotten; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Christopher Chabot Martin and extend deepest sympathy to his family and friends and all those who mourn his passing; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Chief Warrant Officer 2 Christopher Chabot Martin.
