R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The National Black Coalition of Federal Aviation Employees provides an important voice for women and minorities in the Federal Aviation Administration; and WHEREAS, Founded in the 1970s, NBCFAE was established by six African American air traffic controllers in San Diego to improve communication between the FAA and minority employees; eventually local and regional coalitions were organized throughout the country, and the organization has played an essential role in the establishment of professional policies and civic programs; and WHEREAS, In addition to providing a national communication network for its members, the coalition also distributes more than $90,000 annually in scholarships and grants and sponsors the Aviation Career Education Summer Camp Academies, introducing minority youth to careers in aviation; and WHEREAS, The executive committee of NBCFAE supervises the affairs of the coalition and determines policies for its members, who enjoy the organization's many services, including mentoring programs, community service opportunities, legal defense funds, and communication resources; and WHEREAS, The NBCFAE provides an invaluable, unified voice for its members, and it is indeed fitting to honor this noteworthy organization for its promotion of professionalism and excellence; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend the National Black Coalition of Federal Aviation Employees for its exceptional service to the aviation community and extend to all its members sincere best wishes for continued success and achievement; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the NBCFAE as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
