R E S O L U T I O N

	WHEREAS, Kenneth and Patricia Powell of Longview celebrated 

their 50th wedding anniversary on July 16, 2005, marking this 

golden milestone with a special trip through Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, 

Montana, and Canada; and

	WHEREAS, The Powells were married in 1955 at Morton Baptist 

Church in Diana, and since that time they have been blessed with a 

son, Randy Powell, and two daughters, Cindy Wootten and her 

husband, David, and Christy Haldren and her husband, Rodger, as 

well as seven grandchildren, Lindsey Poenisch and her husband, 

Robbie, Brant Day, Robert, Ryne, and Ross Powell, and Tyler and 

Kynlee Haldren, and a great-granddaughter, Chloe Poenisch; and

	WHEREAS, Mr. Powell is retired from a career with LeTourneau, 

Inc., that spanned more than 30 years, while Mrs. Powell served the 

City of Longview, Drug Task Force Division, for over a decade and 

currently works for Holy Trinity First Congregational Church in 

Longview; in their free time, they enjoy traveling and attending 

the many church, school, and sports functions of their 

grandchildren; and

	WHEREAS, For five decades, this devoted couple have shared 

many happy times and cherished family memories, and their 

commitment to each other is exemplary and truly worthy of special 

recognition; now, therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 

Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby honor Kenneth and Patricia 

Powell on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend 

to them warmest best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it 

further

	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 

prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Powell as an expression of high regard by 

the Texas House of Representatives.
