H.R. No. 153





R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Dr. Orin Littlejohn is retiring from his medical practice on September 30, 2005, concluding a remarkable 44-year career as one of Marshall's leading general practitioners; and WHEREAS, The longest-tenured physician in the city, Dr. Littlejohn began his medical practice in 1961, when just 15 doctors served the community; today, three times that number work to meet the health care needs of Marshall's citizens; and WHEREAS, Dr. Littlejohn served on the board of directors of the Marshall Regional Medical Center for 26 years, including three years as board chairman, and he also played an important role in raising the funds necessary to build the city's hospital; and WHEREAS, Resolute in his faith, this dedicated doctor currently serves as chairman of the Committee on Administration and the Executive Committee of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC); he has also served as the moderator of the General Assembly of the EPC, leading the entire denomination and providing invaluable assistance to various presbyteries and pastors; and WHEREAS, In retirement Dr. Littlejohn looks forward to spending more time with his beloved wife, Jane, and pursuing various outdoor activities, such as hunting and fishing; he is also considering a reintroduction to the game of golf, a pastime he enjoyed during his years as a U.S. Air Force jet pilot, and plans to devote more time to travel, working in behalf of his church, and supporting the Cypress Valley Republicans; and WHEREAS, The citizens of Marshall are truly blessed to have benefited from the medical expertise of Dr. Littlejohn, for he has not only treated their symptoms and maladies, but has been a source of counsel and comfort to his many patients; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Dr. Orin Littlejohn on his retirement and extend best wishes to him for much happiness in the years to come; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Dr. Orin Littlejohn as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
