H.R. No. 175
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Harlandale High School Band has distinguished
itself in competitions throughout the 2004-2005 school year, and
these outstanding performances have brought acclaim to the school
and its community; and
WHEREAS, The group achieved notable success in the UIL
Marching Contest, where members received their 13th first division
rating, and in the UIL Concert and Sight-reading Contest, where
they earned their seventh Sweepstakes Award, given only to bands
that make first division in all UIL contests during the year; and
WHEREAS, In June, the students traveled to Orlando, Florida,
to compete in the All-Star Music Festival; these talented Texans
once again showcased their notable skills, earning a superior
rating as well as the title of Grand Champion; and
WHEREAS, Ably guided in their efforts by the leadership of
director Raul Rodriguez and assistant director Debbie Harhai, the
Harlandale High School Band members have demonstrated great
perseverance and talent in the pursuit of their goals, and it is
most appropriate that they be honored for their hard work; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate the members of
the Harlandale High School Band on their many accomplishments
during the 2004-2005 school year and extend to them sincere best
wishes for future success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the band as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
