R E S O L U T I O N

	WHEREAS, Antioch Baptist Church in Beaumont is relocating to 

a new facility on Cardinal Drive in 2005, and this move marks yet 

another milestone in the rich history of this venerable 

institution; and

	WHEREAS, Since purchasing 21 acres of land on which to 

situate their new house of worship, the members of Antioch Baptist 

have moved closer to realizing a cherished dream; parishioners 

broke ground for their church on April 26, 2004, and have observed 

with excitement and pride as their latest church campus has 

steadily progressed toward its final stage of completion; this move 

will be the first for many members who have grown up in the church, 

for Antioch Baptist has been at its present location, at 3350 

Washington Boulevard, since 1973; and

	WHEREAS, Dr. John Robert Adolph has ably led the congregation 

as senior pastor since 1996, and during his tenure the church has 

experienced dynamic growth, expanding from approximately 300 

members to 4,000 worshipers today; and

	WHEREAS, Throughout more than 100 years of existence, Antioch 

Baptist has remained a source of strength, comfort, and inspiration 

for residents of Beaumont and Southeast Texas, and it will surely 

continue to thrive in the years to come; now, therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 

Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate and extend 

sincere best wishes to Dr. John Robert Adolph and all those 

affiliated with Antioch  Baptist Church as they enter into their new 

church home; and, be it further

	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 

prepared for Antioch Baptist Church as an expression of high regard 

by the Texas House of Representatives.
