R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Family members and friends mourn the passing of
Mabel Carol Young of Linden, who died on July 22, 2005, at the age of
85; and
WHEREAS, Born on March 17, 1920, in the Shiloh Community near
Jefferson, Mrs. Young was known as a devoted wife, mother, and
friend to residents of Linden and Hughes Springs; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan married Haskel Young on July 21,
1939, and together they raised four children and operated their own
business, Young's Grocery in Hughes Springs; after retiring in
1974, they moved to Linden, where Mrs. Young taught Sunday school
classes and attended services at First Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, Mabel Carol Young was truly a source of inspiration,
and her generous optimism and kind spirit brightened the lives of
all those who were privileged to know her; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
Mabel Carol Young and extend deepest sympathy to the members of her
family: to her son, Winston Young and his wife, Carolyn; to her
daughters, Yvonne Hogan and her husband, Clay, Deborah Traylor and
her husband, Newman, and Martha Laird and her husband, Kenith; to
her eight grandchildren; to her 21 great-grandchildren; to her
great-great-grandchild; to her brother, Donald Stewart; to her
sister, Corine Teague; to her niece, Linda Pate; and to her other
relatives and friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Mabel Carol
Young.
