R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A full and generous life came to an end with the passing of Doris Faye Knight Fitts of Linden on July 22, 2005, at the age of 75, bringing great sadness to her family and many friends; and WHEREAS, Born on June 12, 1930, Mrs. Fitts graduated from Linden High School and Tyler Commercial College, where she trained as an executive secretary; a devoted wife and mother, she built a loving home for her children and also worked for the Cass County Extension Service and the county clerk's office; and WHEREAS, Active in her community, she volunteered with a number of organizations, including The Helping Hands--Linden Health Care, Cave Springs Friendship Club, Shiloh Cemetery Foundation, Floyd Hill Cemetery Association, and R.S.V.P.; she was a life member of United Methodist Women and a congregant of Linden United Methodist Church, where she was active with the Fellowship Sunday School class; and WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Doris Faye Fitts will remember her deep and unending love of family and community; although she will be greatly missed, her legacy will live on in the hearts of those whose lives she so richly blessed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay special tribute to the life of Doris Faye Fitts and extend deepest sympathy to the members of her family: to her sons, Paul Edward Fitts and his wife, Linda, and Randy Fitts and his wife, Jessica; to her daughters, Paula Elders and her husband, Terry, and Pam Glover; to her 12 grandchildren; to her sisters, Pansy Henderson and Betty Lou Phillips and her husband, O. C.; to her brothers, the Reverend James Robert Knight and his wife, Marie, and Thomas Earl Knight and his wife, Marylee; to her sisters-in-law, Doris Knight and Lajuana Knight; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Doris Faye Knight Fitts.
