H.R. No. 189
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Sergeant Robert Trevino, Jr., has rendered valiant
service in Iraq as a member of the United States Army; and
WHEREAS, A 1992 graduate of Weslaco High School, where he was
a member of the Rodeo Club, Sergeant Trevino joined the army in 1999
and again in 2002; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Trevino has most recently been assigned to
the 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, which embarked for Iraq
with the 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division, in October 2004;
deployed for a 12-month tour of duty, Sergeant Trevino and his
fellow soldiers have operated in and around the northern city of
Mosul; and
WHEREAS, On July 25, 2005, his 33rd birthday, Sergeant
Trevino suffered serious burns in a car bombing attack; he was
subsequently evacuated to a San Antonio burn care unit to recover
from his injuries; following his release, he will be returning to
Washington; and
WHEREAS, This courageous Texan is the husband of Courtney
Allison Trevino and the father of Danielle Nichole Trevino; his
parents are Rosa Ramirez Trevino and the late Robert Trevino, Sr.;
and
WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt to Sergeant Trevino
and to all the country's military personnel, for they are called on
in wartime to bear unimaginable burdens, and they render service
and sacrifice that are truly beyond measure; and
WHEREAS, Through his unswerving devotion to duty, honor, and
this nation, Sergeant Trevino embodies the highest ideals of the
U.S. armed forces, and it is indeed a privilege to recognize him at
this time; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend Sergeant Robert
Trevino, Jr., for his courageous service in Iraq and extend to him
sincere best wishes for his recovery; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Sergeant Trevino as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
