H.R. No. 190





R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Cornelia Sanchez Borrego has been a treasured member of the San Elizario community for nearly nine decades; and WHEREAS, Born on November 16, 1902, in White Oaks, New Mexico, this noteworthy Texan came to San Elizario as a teenager; she married local resident Alfonzo Borrego, Sr., on May 30, 1920, and together they raised 11 children: Lily, Lorenzo, Luis, Raul, Josefina, Pedro, Alfonzo, Joe, Mike Norman, Ramon, and Terry; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Borrego is a devoted woman of faith and a member of San Elizario Church; always eager to attend a "fiesta," she has been an active participant in the senior citizens centers of Fabens and San Elizario; she has also distinguished herself as a committed member of the San Elizario Genealogy and Historical Society at Los Portales; and WHEREAS, An exceptional mother, cook, and seamstress throughout her full and generous life, Cornelia Borrego remains a source of inspiration to her loved ones at 102 years of age, and her generous optimism and kind spirit brighten the lives of all those who are privileged to know her; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby honor Cornelia Sanchez Borrego for her contributions to the community of San Elizario and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mrs. Borrego as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
