R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The certain knowledge of a life well lived may
temper the profound sadness that the passing of F. M. "Roe" Miller
on April 23, 2005, at the age of 86, brings to all who loved this
distinguished Texan; and
WHEREAS, Born on August 2, 1918, in Fort Davis, Mr. Miller
served with distinction in the U.S. Navy for four years during World
War II; flying off aircraft carriers Saratoga and Yorktown in the
South Pacific, he belonged to the first squadron to fly naval planes
over Tokyo in 1945; and
WHEREAS, On March 29, 1945, he married Gene Barton Miller;
they enjoyed a special union blessed with a daughter and a son, and
they shared in the joy of welcoming into their family four
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Miller was a consummate cowboy and followed his
trade from the Mexican border to the Canadian line; he was a member
of the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Davis, Huntley Project
Masonic Lodge No. 144 in Worden, Montana, and the Scottish Rite of
El Paso, as well as a past patron of the Order of the Eastern Star in
Fabens; in May 2003, he was inducted into the Big Bend Cowboy Hall
of Fame in Marfa; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Miller enjoyed many adventurous trails in his
life, and while he will be deeply missed, his spirit will continue
to live in the hearts of those individuals who were fortunate enough
to have known him; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
Roe Miller and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family:
to his beloved wife, Gene B. Miller; to his daughter, Sandra
Elizabeth Reinhardt, and her husband, Dale; to his son, Thomas
Barton Miller, Sr., and his wife, Pam; to his grandchildren and
great-grandchildren; to his special family friend, Silvestra
Molinar; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of F. M. "Roe"
Miller.
