R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, On August 9, 2005, Judge Virgil Vahlenkamp and Francene Vahlenkamp of Denton observed the significant milestone of their silver wedding anniversary; and WHEREAS, The high school sweethearts were debate partners throughout their high school and college careers, graduating in 1980 from the University of North Texas; Judge and Mrs. Vahlenkamp were married on August 9, 1980, in a ceremony held at Asbury United Methodist Church in Denton; they are the proud parents of a son, Andrew, who is currently a student at the University of North Texas; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Vahlenkamp received a master's degree in speech from Texas Tech University and taught at Lubbock, Newman, and Denton high schools and was the coach of speech and debate teams; and WHEREAS, A 1983 alumnus of Texas Tech University Law School, Judge Vahlenkamp was elected judge of County Criminal Court No. 2 in Denton County in 1988 and continues to serve his fellow Texans with integrity and fairness; and WHEREAS, Together, this devoted couple have shared the trials and triumphs of marriage; their commitment to each other, their family, and their community is a source of inspiration to their loved ones, and it is a distinct pleasure to join in honoring them on the occasion of their 25th wedding anniversary; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Virgil and Francene Vahlenkamp on their 25th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Judge and Mrs. Vahlenkamp as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
