H.R. No. 201





R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Teenagers Jeffrey Muriel, Carl Field, Donald Cain, and Charles Tate, Jr., departed this world far too soon, leaving their loved ones to cope with the immeasurable grief brought about by their untimely passing; and WHEREAS, Jeffrey Muriel was a former varsity basketball star at Dunbar High School who helped lead his team to the 2003 Class 4A state basketball championship; enthusiastic and outgoing, the 19-year-old was preparing to return for his sophomore year at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, where he played basketball and was pursuing a college degree; and WHEREAS, An honor student at O. D. Wyatt High School, Carl Field also loved basketball; nicknamed "Weedy," for his long and thin frame, the 14-year-old sophomore was the youngest of his family's four children and could light up a room with his presence; and WHEREAS, Donald Cain was a Dunbar High School graduate who was known as "Tadpole"; the 19-year-old, who played football at Wyatt and Dunbar High Schools, was recognized for his sense of humor and ability to make his friends laugh; and WHEREAS, Charles Tate, Jr., a 19-year-old who had attended O. D. Wyatt High School, also had everything to live for; talented, warm-hearted, and full of high spirits, he was an aspiring rapper and the father of two; and WHEREAS, Although the loss of these vibrant young people is difficult to bear, there is comfort to be found in remembering their lives and the happiness they brought to those who held them dear; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the lives of Jeffrey Muriel, Carl Field, Donald Cain, and Charles Tate, Jr., and extend deepest sympathy to their families and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the young men's families and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in their memory.
