H.R. No. 204





R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Those Texans who work daily to uphold the proud traditions of family farming are an indispensable asset to the people of the Lone Star State; and WHEREAS, Mary Ann Skidmore Hawkins and Jackie N. Hawkins of Bowie County are two such individuals, and their outstanding contributions as family farmers have been justly recognized with the acceptance of the Skidmore farm into the Texas Department of Agriculture Family Land Heritage Program; and WHEREAS, Created to honor farms and ranches that have been in continuous agricultural operation by the same family for a century or more, the program draws welcome attention to the rich and vibrant history of Texas agriculture; and WHEREAS, In continuing to work their family farm, Mr. and Mrs. Hawkins have carried on their family's significant legacy, and it is indeed fitting to honor this worthwhile endeavor; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Mary Ann Skidmore Hawkins and Jackie N. Hawkins on the induction of the Skidmore farm into the Texas Department of Agriculture Family Land Heritage Program and extend to them sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Hawkins as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
