R E S O L U T I O N

	WHEREAS, Texans are known throughout the nation for the 

excellence of the smoked meats that they produce as barbeque and for 

the painstaking attention to detail that characterizes their 

efforts; and

	WHEREAS, Over the weekend of October 21-22, 2005, one hundred 

teams of talented barbeque cookers will vie against one another in 

friendly competition at the 2nd Annual Texas Stampede State 

Championship Barbeque Cook-Off, held at Gilley's Dallas nightclub; 

and

	WHEREAS, Although the winners of the competition will receive 

$10,000 in prize money, the real winners will be the crowds of 

satisfied barbeque lovers, as well as the Children's Medical Center 

of Dallas and pediatric programs of the UT Southwestern Medical 

Center, the beneficiaries of this festive fund-raising event; and

	WHEREAS, These worthy causes truly warrant bringing Texans 

together to share fine food, lively music, and a fun-filled 

atmosphere; now, therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 

Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commemorate the 2nd Annual 

Texas Stampede State Championship Barbeque Cook-Off and extend 

sincere best wishes to all those associated with this event for a 

successful and memorable weekend.
