H.R. No. 209
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Judi Foster of Conroe has been nominated to receive
the Texas Lonestar Achievement Award from the OneStar Foundation
established by Governor Rick Perry in 2004 in recognition of her
notable volunteer efforts, which have involved raising untold sums
for charitable causes and organizing numerous events to benefit
children, the arts, and cancer research; and
WHEREAS, A practicing Realtor in Montgomery County, this
esteemed Texan moved to Conroe in 1968 with her husband, George L.
Foster; together the couple enjoy the company of a fine son, Matt F.
Foster, who is an FBI agent, his beloved wife, Anne Marie Martin,
and their precious daughter, Alyson Grace; Mrs. Foster's work with
area youth has included volunteering for the Children's Special
Olympics, the Conroe High School Band Boosters, and the Montgomery
County Fair Association, for which she eventually chaired all
junior non-livestock shows; and
WHEREAS, For many years, Mrs. Foster has served on the
Crighton Theatre Foundation Board, raising funds for the
organization's historic building and chairing two unique
fund-raisers for the theater; she has also served as chair of the
Montgomery County Texas Sesquicentennial Committee, the American
Heart Association Campaign, the South East Texas Arts Fair, and the
Montgomery County Performing Arts Children's Art Program; she has
coordinated multiple food drives, established the Montgomery
County Child Protective Services Rainbow Room, and distinguished
herself on the board of the Lake Conroe Area Convention and Visitors
Bureau, the gala task force of the American Cancer Society of Texas,
and the board of the Montgomery County Association of Realtors, for
which she has served on the nominating, special events, and
scholarship selection committees; and
WHEREAS, A founding board member of the Montgomery County
Cattle Baron's Ball, Mrs. Foster has helped to raise more than $2.5
million for the American Cancer Society and open a reference
library for cancer patients and their families at local hospitals;
she has received several awards for her service to the city of
Conroe and Montgomery County, including the President's Key Person
Award from the Conroe Chamber of Commerce, the Community Service
Award from the Montgomery County Association of Realtors, the
Montgomery County Volunteer of the Year award, the Conroe Symphony
Celebrity Conductor award, and the Notable Women of Texas award;
and
WHEREAS, With her vibrant personality and can-do attitude,
Judi Foster is truly an inspiration to her fellow volunteers and the
entire community of Conroe; especially deserving of this
nomination, she has made the city a better place to live, work, and
raise a family, and she has earned the lasting respect of her many
friends and neighbors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Judi Foster
for her Texas Lonestar Achievement Award nomination and extend to
her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mrs. Foster as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
