R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Sherri Statler has recently been named President of the Christian Homes of Abilene and will oversee the daily operation of that noteworthy organization and direct a staff of twenty; and WHEREAS, her energies and priority will be to increase the number of adoptions which total almost 1,600 since its inception more than 40 years ago; and WHEREAS, the Chairman of the board of Christian Homes, Mr. Stormy Higgins, a well-known businessman and city council member of Abilene praised Mrs. Statler for her "having the experience and heart for the special mission of the organization" since she and her husband, Taylor County Commissioner Chuck Statler adopted their precious daughter Caroline as a baby just five years ago; and WHEREAS, she founded and has served as the chief executive officer of the very successful Statler and Associates headquartered in Abilene over an 18 year period of operation; and WHEREAS, she will continue to serve as a silent partner of that well known public relations firm; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Statler is widely known and admired as a marketing public relations and political consultant since her graduation from Abilene Christian University with a business and political science bachelors degree and a masters degree in Mass Communications; and WHEREAS, she has served many successful political candidates, she has primarily worked for well established small to mid-size business and professional clients as well as many non-profit organizations; and WHEREAS, she has been a prominent and well respected citizen in the civic life of Abilene and her church community; and WHEREAS, her new position will enable her to serve countless individuals and families throughout the state and nation; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature honor Sherri Statler as she begins of her new job serving children and families in our great state.
