H.R. No. 211







R E S O L U T I O N

	WHEREAS, The McAllen Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has been 

named the state's small chamber of the year by the Texas Association 

of Mexican-American Chambers of Commerce; and

	WHEREAS, The award recognizes a chamber for its commitment to 

its members, businesses, and community, and for providing quality 

training, leadership, and access to contract opportunities; and

	WHEREAS, The McAllen chamber consistently assists small 

businesses in the area by promoting economic development in the 

Hispanic market and offering networking and educational 

opportunities; the chamber is also a satellite office for the Small 

Business Administration and partners with numerous organizations, 

including the South Texas Minority Business Opportunity Committee 

and the Women's Empowerment Business Centers; and

	WHEREAS, The McAllen Hispanic Chamber of Commerce enriches 

the lives of the city's residents by fostering a healthy economic 

climate and promoting responsible business practices, and all those 

associated with the chamber merit special recognition for their 

achievements; now, therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 

Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate the McAllen 

Hispanic Chamber of Commerce on being named the state's small 

chamber of the year by the Texas Association of Mexican-American 

Chambers of Commerce and extend to its staff and board of directors 

sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further

	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 

prepared for the McAllen chamber as an expression of high regard by 

the Texas House of Representatives.
