H.R. No. 218
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Dr. Robert Schwebel has deservedly been named Man of
the Year by the Brazoria Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, The Man of the Year award was created to honor
Brazoria citizens who have made significant contributions to their
community, and Dr. Schwebel is indeed one such individual, having
long been committed to enriching the lives of others; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed gentleman has led efforts to draw
increased attention to Brazoria by helping to preserve the rich
heritage of this historical community and its environs, which is
proudly regarded by many as the place "Where Texas Began"; and
WHEREAS, Through his work as president of the Brazoria
Heritage Foundation, he has played a pivotal role in a project
designed to transform the former Brazoria Elementary School into a
civic center and museum that will become a showpiece for the
community; to that end, he has spent countless hours recruiting
volunteers, organizing fund-raisers, soliciting donations, and
applying for grant money; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Schwebel's genuine love of history and valuable
promotion of Brazoria have made him most worthy of the recognition
bestowed on him by his community, and it is a pleasure to join his
fellow citizens in honoring him; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Dr. Robert
Schwebel on being named Man of the Year by the Brazoria Chamber of
Commerce and commend him for his dedication to preserving the
history of his community and thereby the Lone Star State; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Dr. Schwebel as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
