R E S O L U T I O N

	WHEREAS, Sergeant Carrie Shanafelt of the Texas National 

Guard has earned promotion to the rank of staff sergeant; and

	WHEREAS, An accomplished member of the Texas National Guard 

since 2002, Staff Sergeant Shanafelt also served her country with 

distinction in the U.S. Army for four years, during which time she 

was stationed in Bosnia, Korea, and Kuwait; and

	WHEREAS, Throughout her military career, this beloved 

daughter, sister, wife, and mother-to-be has drawn on her 

close-knit family for strength and inspiration; and

	WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Shanafelt has demonstrated 

exceptional initiative in the performance of her duties, and she is 

to be lauded for her most recent achievement; now, therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 

Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby honor Carrie Shanafelt on 

her promotion to the rank of staff sergeant in the Texas National 

Guard and commend her for her patriotic service in behalf of this 

state and nation; and, be it further

	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 

prepared for Staff Sergeant Shanafelt as an expression of high 

regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
