R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Asian American Bar Association of Houston is hosting its annual gala and silent auction on August 26, 2005; and WHEREAS, Founded in 1984, the AABA is a voluntary association of lawyers, judges, and law students of Asian Pacific heritage and supporters of the city's Asian Pacific legal community; the organization promotes professional excellence by providing its members with educational, community service, and outreach opportunities; and WHEREAS, The AABA has recently founded a charitable affiliate, the Asian American Bar Foundation, which advocates participation by Asian Pacific Americans in the legal profession and dispenses scholarships and grants to further its mission; and WHEREAS, By fostering diversity in the legal community of Houston, the AABA is providing an immeasurable service to the State of Texas, and all those associated with the organization merit special recognition for their achievements; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby honor the Asian American Bar Association of Houston on the occasion of its 2005 gala and silent auction and extend to its members sincere best wishes for a successful event; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the AABA as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
