R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The year 2005 marks the 65th anniversary of Horaney's Feed Store, and this significant milestone provides a fitting opportunity to recognize this Longview institution; and WHEREAS, Founded in 1940 by Syrian immigrant Harry Horaney, the business originally occupied a simple wooden structure at 207 Court Street and quickly gained a loyal customer base; farmers and ranchers depended on Horaney's not only for its products but also for its warm and friendly atmosphere, which earned it the status of one of Longview's most important social centers; and WHEREAS, Throughout the years, Horaney's inventory has become as diverse as its ever-growing clientele, which today includes gardeners, homeowners, and even tourists who have read about the store in the Best of East Texas; the business has moved across the street, and it is now operated by Mr. Horaney's son and daughter-in-law, Albert and Betty Horaney, but the same high standards of service and commitment to its customers continue; and WHEREAS, For 6–1/2 decades, the Horaney family and their enterprise have contributed immeasurably to the quality of life of their East Texas community, and it is indeed a pleasure to recognize them at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate the Horaney family on the 65th anniversary of Horaney's Feed Store and extend to them sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the Horaneys as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
