R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Martin Lujan admirably performs his duties as chief of staff of the office of State Representative Pete Gallego, and he is to be commended for his commitment to excellence in this demanding role; and WHEREAS, Mr. Lujan joined Representative Gallego's staff prior to the commencement of the 78th Legislative Session, and his talents and abilities soon gained him the position of chief of staff; he previously served as a staff member of the Office of the Chief Clerk during the 77th Legislative Session and as a legislative policy analyst for the Mexican American Legislative Caucus, and he has also worked for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality; and WHEREAS, Born in San Carlos, Mexico, Mr. Lujan came to the United States as a child and worked hard to learn English and excel in school; when his family returned to Mexico, the precocious seven-year-old refused to return with them, preferring to stay in Texas and get an education; and WHEREAS, A graduate of Alpine High School and the first member of his family to earn a high school diploma, Mr. Lujan served in the U.S. Navy for seven years before beginning pursuit of his longtime goal of attaining higher education; during his tenure in the navy, this exceptional individual gained and maintained numerous leadership positions, consistently demonstrating a maturity beyond his years; and WHEREAS, Despite obstacles in his path toward success, Martin Lujan has displayed admirable perseverance in all his endeavors, and his tenure as chief of staff for the Honorable Pete Gallego represents yet another significant achievement in the life of this remarkable gentleman; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby honor Martin Lujan for his service as chief of staff of the office of State Representative Pete Gallego and recognize him for his hard work in behalf of the constituents of House District 74 and all the citizens of Texas; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Lujan as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
