R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The family members and many friends of Clifford Roy Doering were greatly saddened by his passing on January 25, 2005, and we join them in mourning their loss; and WHEREAS, A native Chicagoan, Mr. Doering attended Northwestern University, and he served with distinction in the U.S. Navy as a landing craft operator in the Pacific theater of operations during World War II; and WHEREAS, On his return to Chicago, he worked with the Manhattan Project before embarking on his career in the aircraft and aerospace industries; and WHEREAS, In his capacity as a storage and scheduling specialist, Mr. Doering was responsible for many of the complex technical tasks that would later come to be accomplished by computers, and he brought his characteristic intelligence and diligence to this demanding work; and WHEREAS, After his retirement from the aeronautics industry, Mr. Doering and his wife, La Marilys, started their own janitorial business, which they ran together for six years; and WHEREAS, Throughout their marriage, Mr. Doering enjoyed the love and support from his wife, as well as from his two daughters and five grandchildren, and while he is sorely missed by his family, they may take comfort in the knowledge that his unique and irreplaceable spirit will continue to burn on brightly in the hearts of all those who knew him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Clifford Roy Doering and extend sincere sympathy to his family and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Clifford Roy Doering.
