H.R. No. 248





R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Christian Scott Mappus of Arlington has completed the rigorous requirements for attaining the elite rank of Eagle Scout, and his outstanding accomplishment was recognized at a Court of Honor on August 13, 2005, at All Saints Lutheran Church; and WHEREAS, The son of Rudy and Deborah Mappus, this outstanding young man is an honor student at Martin High School, where he particularly enjoys foreign languages and computers; he hopes to attend either Texas A&M University or The University of Texas at Austin; and WHEREAS, Since beginning his tenure in scouting, Mr. Mappus has earned an award for best orienteering scout as well as a God and Family Medal, a 50 Miler Award, and the Order of the Arrow Award, and he has participated in a number of camping trips and summer camps in Texas, New Mexico, Arkansas, and Colorado; moreover, he has garnered an impressive 31 merit badges, including those requiring expertise in such diverse areas as geology, plumbing, and space exploration; his Eagle Scout project involved planting two flower beds at Arlington's Thora Hart Park; and WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Mappus is a valued member of Boy Scout Troop 445, which he has ably served as quartermaster, patrol leader, senior patrol leader, troop guide, and assistant senior patrol leader; and WHEREAS, Deeply committed to scouting, his family, and his community, Eagle Scout Mappus is an inspiration to all who know him, and it is indeed a pleasure to recognize him at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby honor Christian Scott Mappus for attaining the rank of Eagle Scout and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success in the years ahead; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Mappus as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
