R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Starr County residents Guadalupe and Elia Munoz are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on August 27, 2005, marking a significant milestone in their long and rewarding union; and WHEREAS, Lupe Munoz and the former Elia Hinojosa were united in matrimony in 1955 at a ceremony held in Rio Grande City; together they built a happy home for their children, Yvonne "Bonnie," Melissa, and Monica, and today they also take great pride in their eight grandchildren, Vanessa, Marissa, Krystle, Cody, Ty, Bo, Kristen, and Tori; and WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Munoz have both retired from successful careers as educators; a graduate of Rio Grande City High School and Pan American College, Mr. Munoz began teaching in 1956 and devoted 49 years to the educational development of youths in Starr and Hidalgo Counties; Mrs. Munoz, who graduated from San Isidro High School and Pan American College, served as an elementary school teacher for 39 years before her retirement; and WHEREAS, Members of Immaculate Conception Church, Mr. and Mrs. Munoz have been valued residents of Rio Grande City for nearly half a century; they remain active and energetic in their retirement and enjoy spending days at their ranch and visiting with their family and friends; and WHEREAS, Throughout the past five decades, Lupe and Elia Munoz have enjoyed a happy marriage that has grown stronger with each passing year, and they remain a source of delight and inspiration to all with whom they have shared the richness of their life together; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Guadalupe and Elia Munoz on the memorable occasion of their golden wedding anniversary and extend to them warmest best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Munoz as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
