H.R. No. 266
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, During each legislative session, as well as the
interims between, many skilled employees work to ensure the smooth
and efficient functioning of Texas state government; and
WHEREAS, Prominent among these dedicated individuals are
members of the Texas Legislative Council Information Systems
Division, the crack troops of highly trained professionals whose
comforting presence behind the scenes enables the members of this
chamber to function in a secure and stable computing environment;
and
WHEREAS, The legislature's first line of cyber-defense, the
IS Division includes those individuals charged with repelling
computer attacks, who move quickly and quietly to quell threats
posed by worms, viruses, and other exotic and dangerous forms of
virtual predator; and
WHEREAS, With the legislative community thus protected from
incursions from beyond, other IS experts are free to share their
extensive experience and expertise with legislative staff and
support personnel, and many a computer crisis has been gracefully
resolved by way of their coolheaded judgment and Yoda-like wisdom;
and
WHEREAS, In creating, maintaining, and protecting a computer
system of enormous breadth and complexity, the members of the IS
team daily perform a hugely difficult task; few are the Capitol
staffers who have not experienced problems with their own home
computers and felt a sudden rush of appreciation for the IS
resources so freely available at their workplace; and
WHEREAS, We are quick to call on the professionals of the IS
Division when in the midst of a technical emergency, and it is only
fitting that we also honor their outstanding efforts in avoiding
such crises and easing the work of the Texas legislative community
day in and day out; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby honor the staff of the
Texas Legislative Council Information Systems Division and commend
them for a job well done.
