SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 8
In Memory
of
Tom McRae
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
citizens of Granbury in mourning the loss of Tom McRae, who died
May 23, 2005, at the age of 65; and
WHEREAS, Tom McRae was born November 7, 1939, in
Henderson, Texas, to O.C. and Mary Sue Clinton McRae; he was a
leader in the Granbury community, an adventurer, and a visionary
entrepreneur; and
WHEREAS, He started a number of businesses, including a
designer jeans company, a yogurt franchise, and the Great
American Race, an antique car rally; he owned Celebration Hall
and Granbury Live, a theater offering Christian-oriented family
entertainment; and
WHEREAS, A recovering alcoholic, Tom wanted others to
share the tremendous happiness he found in his life and was
generous with his time and energy, helping others who bore a
similar burden; and
WHEREAS, He was a devout Christian and taught Bible
classes; he dearly loved children, especially his two-year-old
grandson, Texas Garza, and he supported a Christian pregnancy
center; and
WHEREAS, Tom McRae lived his dreams and chose to see the
joy in life, and he enriched the lives of all who knew him through
his love and compassion, his warmth and humor, and his enthusiasm
for living each day to the fullest; and
WHEREAS, Tom McRae was a devoted husband, father, and
grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured
forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby extend sincere
condolences to the bereaved family of Tom McRae: his wife,
Sandi McRae; his daughter, Sam McRae; his sister, Sister McRae; his
brother, Mac McRae; and his grandson, Texas Garza; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
day, it do so in memory of Tom McRae.
