SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 12
In Memory
of
Charles Ramos
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
citizens of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Charles Ramos,
who died July 12, 2005, at the age of 83; and
WHEREAS, Charles was born March 14, 1922, in San Antonio,
and he attended Tech High School; and
WHEREAS, He served in the United States Marine Corps from
1942 until 1946, seeing two years of combat action in the Pacific
arena; and
WHEREAS, After his discharge from the United States
Marines, Charles enlisted in the United States Air Force; he
participated in the Berlin Air Lift and served in Panama, Cuba,
the Dominican Republic, and Ecuador as an instructor, technical
advisor, and linguist; and
WHEREAS, He retired from the Air Force in 1965 as a
technical sergeant and became a civil servant at Kelly Air Force
Base, where he worked until 1978; he was hired by Lockheed
Aircraft and was sent to Iran, where he was instrumental in
establishing a viable aircraft supply system; and
WHEREAS, He will be remembered for his dignity and his
dauntless spirit; he was a devoted husband, father, and
grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured
forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby extend sincere
condolences to the bereaved family of Charles Ramos: his beloved
wife of 64 years, Alice C. Ramos; his sons and daughter-in-law,
Charles Ramos and Ron and Connie Ramos; his daughters and
son-in-law, Carla Vela and Cynthia and Jesse Hernandez; his
sister, Aurora Ramos; and his nine grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
his family as an expression of sincere sympathy from the
Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so
in memory of Charles Ramos.
