SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 27
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize recording artist KEM on the release of his second
album, KEM Album II; and
WHEREAS, With songs about the human condition, KEM brings
his own life experiences to bear in such songs as "Heaven,"
"Each Other," and his single, "I Can't Stop Loving You"; fellow
Motown musician Stevie Wonder performs on the song "You Might
Win"; and
WHEREAS, KEM financed, recorded, and produced his debut
album, Kemistry, while working as a waiter and playing in a Top 40
wedding band; after he was signed by Motown, the label rereleased
Kemistry, and the album went on to sell over 500,000 copies; and
WHEREAS, KEM believes that his career's success is related
to his discovery of his spirituality; he feels the long journey
from his humble beginnings in Detroit to his accomplishments as a
recording artist is a testament to the fact that he is a performer
now at ease with himself; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate KEM on
the release of his second album, KEM Album II, and wish him
success in all his future endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
