SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 46
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the representatives of IKEA on the splendid occasion of the grand opening of the company's new store in Frisco on August 3, 2005; and WHEREAS, The IKEA stores offer home furnishings that are noted for superior design and function and for prices that appeal to a wide range of people with many different needs, goals, and finances; and WHEREAS, IKEA home furnishings are based on the Swedish tradition of using light colors, natural textiles, and untreated surfaces; IKEA also offers a product range that covers the needs of the whole family; and WHEREAS, Since it was founded in Sweden over 60 years ago, IKEA has continued its tradition of creating high-quality furnishings as inexpensively as possible, while ensuring that its suppliers adhere to the IKEA code of conduct regarding social and working conditions; IKEA also requires that its materials be free of hazardous substances, and that the wood used in its products does not come from areas where forests are being depleted; and WHEREAS, Offering over 10,000 home furnishing products, a restaurant, a Swedish food market, a bistro, and a play area, IKEA Frisco will undoubtedly be a highly successful venture in Collin County; and WHEREAS; Respected for its tradition of commitment to the environment and the community, IKEA will be an invaluable asset to the citizens of North Texas, who are already greatly appreciative of the company's selection of the Collin County Children's Advocacy Center as its charity of choice; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend all associated with IKEA for their vision of generating a better life for their customers and extend to them a warm welcome to the City of Frisco; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
