SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 63
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Dexter Utley for his loyal service as pastor of the
Trinity Fellowship Church Southwest; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Utley's ministry began in 1989 while he
was a member of Saint Agnes Missionary Baptist Church; he was a
member of the Christian rap group Young Disciples of Christ,
whose powerful lyrics provided inspiration to all who heard them;
and
WHEREAS, After the tragic death of his brother and a brief
period of darkness in his life, Dexter Utley returned to the
ministry stronger than ever; in May of 2002, he was licensed as an
elder and ordained as a minister; he served as assistant pastor
at Trinity Fellowship Church Southeast; and
WHEREAS, Now serving as pastor of Trinity Fellowship
Church Southwest, he provides inspirational leadership, and
under his guidance, the church provides enlightenment, hope and
support to the Houston community; and
WHEREAS, A man of spiritual depth and devotion, this
revered pastor is committed to helping area youths and to helping
all members of his congregation through their hardships; he also
oversees several areas of ministry at the main campus, including
the Youth Ministry and the Deacon Family Ministry; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby join the
members of Trinity Fellowship Church Southwest in commending
Pastor Dexter Utley for his ardent service to his church, his
city, and his beloved community; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
