SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 66
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the First National Bank of Baird for serving the
citizens of Baird, Abilene, and the Big Country for 120 years;
and
WHEREAS, The First National Bank of Baird opened its doors
on July 1, 1885, and has continuously operated ever since; it is
the third oldest national bank in Texas; and
WHEREAS, The citizens of Baird, Abilene, and the
surrounding Big Country communities have benefited greatly from
the generosity of the First National Bank of Baird, as it has been
a strong supporter of commerce, local charities, and civic events
for over a century; and
WHEREAS, The board members, officers, and employees of the
First National Bank of Baird have been good neighbors; consistently
demonstrating community spirit, they have strived to provide the
best to the area; and
WHEREAS, The First National Bank of Baird is proud of its
role in the history of the Big Country and looks forward to the
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate the
First National Bank of Baird for 120 years of continuous
operation and outstanding service to the citizens of Baird,
Abilene, and the Big Country; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the bank as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
