SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 78



	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 

join the City of Mansfield in paying tribute to Bernita Tyler

for her dedication and commitment to helping the children in

her community; and



	WHEREAS, Bernita has been helping those in need since she 

moved to Mansfield in 1988 from Dallas; in 1990, she founded 

Shoes for My Children, a nonprofit organization that collects

and distributes shoes and clothing to low- and moderate-income 

children; and



	WHEREAS, Bernita Tyler understands the embarrassment and 

low self-esteem children can feel when they do not have adequate 

clothing and shoes; she is currently collecting shoes from local 

residents, businesses, and churches, and she will also use money 

donated to her nonprofit organization to reach her goal of 

providing 1,000 pairs of shoes to children who need them this 

year; and



	WHEREAS, Through her special dedication and commitment to 

helping the young people in her community, Bernita Tyler has had 

a positive impact on the lives of many people, and she sets a fine 

example for others to follow; now, therefore, be it



	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

79th Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend

Bernita Tyler for her exemplary efforts on behalf of the young 

people of Mansfield and extend to her best wishes for further 

success in her worthy endeavors; and, be it further



	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 

her as an expression of the high regard of the Texas Senate.
