SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 81



	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 

recognize the Islamic Society of Greater Houston on the occasion 

of its forum, "The Beauty of Islam," which is being held

August 13, 2005, at the historic Islamic Da'wah Center; and



	WHEREAS, The Islamic Society of Greater Houston represents 

thousands of Muslims across the Houston area; it was organized in 

1968 to provide services for fulfilling the educational, 

religious, social, economic, and cultural needs of the growing 

Muslim community in Houston; and



	WHEREAS, Open to people of all faiths, the August 13 forum 

is designed to increase understanding of Islam and Muslims, and 

it will include exhibits and presentations on Islamic history, 

culture, and contemporary issues; now, therefore, be it



	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

79th Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend the members 

of the Islamic Society of Greater Houston for their outstanding 

work in helping the Muslim community maintain its identity while 

integrating into American life; and, be it further



	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 

the society as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
