SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 83



	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 

recognize Judy Towns Strawmyer, who is retiring from the Office 

of the Comptroller of Public Accounts on August 31, 2005, after 

29 years and nine months of loyal service to the state; and

	WHEREAS, Judy began her service to the state by working for 

the Texas Employment Commission in the summer of 1973; she worked 

other summers for the Texas Basic Science Board and was a Capitol 

tour guide for the Texas Senate in 1976; and

	WHEREAS, With a wealth of knowledge and experience, Judy 

joined the comptroller's office in 1980; she developed and wrote 

mainframe COBOL computer programs for Motor Fuel, Sales Tax, and 

Audit; she also developed and wrote mainframe Expert System 

computer programs for Open Records and Legislative Analysis; and

	WHEREAS, Judy later joined the Customer Information Center 

in the Information Technology Division, where her expertise 

proved invaluable in improving the division's customer 

satisfaction ratings; due to her excellent work, she was one of 

the recipients of the Outstanding Team Award in 1998 and later 

began working at the Help Desk; her recent work has been handling 

asset repairs for IBM Corporation equipment; and

	WHEREAS, An exemplary employee, Judy is admired and 

respected by her colleagues, and her presence in the Office of 

the Comptroller of Public Accounts will be greatly missed; now, 

therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

79th Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend

Judy Towns Strawmyer on her exceptional service and her many 

contributions to our state and extend to her best wishes for the 

retirement years ahead; and, be it further

	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 

her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
