SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 84
In Memory
of
Teodocio G. Hernandez
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Teodocio G. Hernandez, who
died July 28, 2005, at the age of 70; and
WHEREAS, Teodocio Hernandez was born in Encinal, Texas, in
1934; his family moved to San Antonio when he was three years old,
and he graduated from Lanier High School in 1952; he served four
years in the United States Air Force and 20 years in the Air
National Guard 149th Tactical Fighter Group; he earned several
military medals, including the Lone Star Distinguished Service
Medal; he was a retired Kelly Air Force Base civil service
worker; and
WHEREAS, A member of the Edgewood Lions Club for almost 30
years, he was dedicated to his work at the Lions Club Camp, where
he enjoyed helping the children with disabilities who attended
the camp each year; and
WHEREAS, To his colleagues in the Lions Club, he was "Lion
Ted"; to his devoted family, he was "Tocho"; to all who knew him,
he was a dedicated humanitarian who devoted many hours to helping
others; he received, among other awards, the distinguished
Melvin Jones Fellow Award, which is named after the founder of
Lions Clubs International; and
WHEREAS, Tocho Hernandez lived his life to the fullest and
was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and he leaves
behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and
many friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby extend sincere
condolences to the bereaved family of Teodocio G. Hernandez:
his wife of 42 years, Gloria Rodriguez Hernandez; his son and
daughter-in-law, Robert and Cindy Hernandez; his daughters
and sons-in-law, Anna Rose and John Aguirre and Laura Jean
and Miguel Menjares; his sisters, Janie Hall and Gloria Briseno;
his brother, Joe "Taro" Hernandez; and his seven grandchildren;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared
for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it
do so in memory of Teodocio Hernandez.
