SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 87
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Constable Ruben Davis on the grand occasion of his 50th
birthday on August 18, 2005; and
WHEREAS, A 21-year veteran of the Houston Police
Department prior to becoming constable of Precinct Two in
Fort Bend County, Ruben has spent nearly half his career in
community policing programs and projects; he created the first
Community Liaison Deputy Program in Fort Bend County to work with
at-risk youths; and
WHEREAS, Ruben graduated from the University of Houston
and earned a master's degree from Prairie View A&M University; he
holds numerous law enforcement certifications, including a
master police license; and
WHEREAS, While the milestone of 50 comes as a shock to some
and a source of anguish to others, it is perhaps best thought of
as an entire half century to those who reach that venerable age;
and
WHEREAS, Now that he has reached the age of 50, Ruben will
certainly handle with grace the sudden deference to his age and
concern for his decrepitude that he will receive from his ever
younger colleagues; and
WHEREAS, In honor of this grand occasion, Ruben's family
and friends are meeting at the Lake Olympia Clubhouse on
August 19, 2005, some to commiserate, some to taunt, but one and
all to celebrate his many contributions to their lives; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby extend to
Ruben Davis warm greetings and best wishes on his 50th birthday;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
