SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 95
In Memory
of
Raymond Losano
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to join the United States Air Force in paying tribute to the life of Airman First Class Raymond Losano, who died April 25, 2003, while serving his country in Afghanistan in the war on terrorism; and WHEREAS, On September 1, 2005, a plaque engraved with the name and likeness of Airman Losano will be placed in front of the new Losano Fitness Center at Laughlin Air Force Base to honor the memory of the American hero and Del Rio native son; and WHEREAS, A tactical air command and control specialist, Raymond was assigned to the 14th Air Support Operation Squadron, which was deployed out of Pope Air Force Base to Afghanistan in March of 2003; he was assigned to parachute behind enemy lines to call air strikes; on April 25 his unit was ambushed and Airman Losano was killed, but before taking his last breath, he called in the air strike that saved the rest of his company; and WHEREAS, Airman Losano was recognized by the military last fall when it named a 52-foot range control tower at the Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk in Louisiana in his honor and in honor of Sergeant Jacob Frazier symbolizing the admiration and respect of America's armed forces for the two American heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country; and WHEREAS, A memorial plaque and the naming of a fitness center and control tower will preserve the memory of Airman Losano for generations to come and serve as a symbol of the courage, patriotism, and valor demonstrated by a Texas native son and national hero who answered the call to fight on behalf of his country and its goals; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Airman First Class Raymond Losano on the occasion of the dedication of the memorial plaque in front of the Losano Fitness Center at Laughlin Air Force Base; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the members of the family of Raymond Losano as an expression of sympathy from the Texas Senate for their loss and in honor of this special event.
