SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 112



	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 

recognize the Liberty Ponytails, a group of 11-year-old and 

12-year-old all-star softball players who recently won the state

Dixie League softball championship title; and

	WHEREAS, In the double-elimination state competition in 

Dennison, Liberty defeated Paris, 6-5, and Titus County, 3-2, 

before securing the championship with back-to-back wins over 

Honey Grove with scores of 9-2 and 8-0; and

	WHEREAS, The champion athletes displayed outstanding 

teamwork and the discipline instilled in them by their team

manager, Mary Jane Leonard, and by their coaches, Ned Herndon and

Stan Broomas, to lead Liberty to its first ever 11-12 Division 

State Championship title; and

	WHEREAS, The champion team members are Erika Flournoy, 

Skylar Fly, Amanda Rose Leonard, Sadie Mayes, Kirby Taylor, 

Katherine McAdams, Barbara Herndon, Ariana Potetz, Leanne Herndon,

Ashley Leon, Marissa Gaskamp, and Hannah Nolan; the softball 

all-stars next compete for the Dixie League World Championship 

title in Dothan, Alabama; and

	WHEREAS, By winning the state title, the Liberty Ponytails

have much reason to celebrate, and their families and the 

citizens of Liberty can be justifiably proud of their young 

softball competitors; now, therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

79th Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate the 

Liberty Ponytails on winning the state softball championship

and extend to them best wishes for success at the Dixie League 

World Series; and, be it further

	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 

them as a token of esteem from the Texas Senate.
