SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 116
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Charlie M. Yates on the occasion of his retirement from the Office of Court Administration on August 31, 2005, after 26 years of loyal service to the state; and WHEREAS, Charlie began working with the state on November 1, 1974, as a mapmaker and worked the majority of his career in the information technology field as a programmer and an analyst, a supervisor, and a systems analyst; and WHEREAS, At Southwest Texas State University, he specialized in cartography and photogrammetry and graduated with a bachelor's degree in geography; prior to joining the Office of Court Administration on July 5, 1999, Charlie worked for the Parks and Wildlife Department and the Texas Department of Transportation; and WHEREAS, Charlie has long held a special interest in Texas history; he is a member of the board of directors of Celebrate Texas, a nonprofit organization that commemorates Texas Independence Day, and his future plans include teaching and doing research for books he plans to write about the history of the state; and WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure with the state, Charlie has been noted as a talented and resourceful individual who has handled his many responsibilities with exceptional efficiency, dedication, and good humor; and WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, Charlie is admired and respected by his colleagues, and his presence in the Office of Court Administration will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend Charlie M. Yates for his many years of valuable service to the state and extend to him best wishes in all his future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of the high regard of the Texas Senate.
