SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 122
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Arturo R. Gonzalez, Jr., on the occasion of his
retirement from the Texas Health and Human Services Commission;
and
WHEREAS, Arturo served four years in the United States
Air Force; his service included duty in Vietnam and Thailand; in
1974, he graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a
bachelor's degree in pharmacy; he then acquired many years of
valuable experience working in a pharmacy before entering into
service with the state; and
WHEREAS, In 1992, Arturo joined the Texas Health and Human
Services Commission, which was then the Department of Human
Services, and in 2001, he joined its Medicaid/CHIP division as a
regional consultant pharmacist; and
WHEREAS, A talented and resourceful individual, Arturo has
handled his many responsibilities with the commission with
exceptional efficiency and dedication and is noted for his
expertise in his field; and
WHEREAS, Arturo is an exemplary gentleman who is admired
and respected by his colleagues, and his presence at the Texas
Health and Human Services Commission will be greatly missed; and
WHEREAS, In retirement, Arturo will have more time to
devote to Emmanuel United Methodist Church, where he has been a
member for 30 years and has chaired numerous committees; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend
Arturo R. Gonzalez, Jr., on his exceptional service with the
Texas Health and Human Services Commission and for his many
contributions to our state and extend to him best wishes for the
retirement years ahead; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
