SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 126
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Dr. Allen R. Sullivan on the occasion of his retirement from the Dallas Independent School District; and WHEREAS, For the past 30 years, this distinguished educator has faithfully served the people of Dallas in several important positions during his tenure with the Dallas public school system; and WHEREAS, A graduate of Northeastern University in Boston, Dr. Sullivan earned a master of science degree in education and a doctor of philosophy in education and developmental psychology degree from Syracuse University; and WHEREAS, The students of the Dallas Independent School District have benefited immeasurably from the dedication and talent of this outstanding administrator; at various times he has served as deputy associate superintendent, interim assistant superintendent, and executive director of Student Development, Student Support Services; he is retiring from his position as assistant superintendent in the Office of Student Development and Advocacy Services; and WHEREAS, Dr. Sullivan also served as executive director of the Texas Head Start Public School National Transition Demonstration Project, and during the course of his career, he has been active in numerous civic organizations; he has served on the board of directors of the Dallas County Mental Health and Mental Retardation Center and was appointed to the City of Dallas Mayor's Child Care Task Force; he has been listed in Who's Who in Education and Who's Who in the World; and WHEREAS, Dr. Sullivan has published over 70 book chapters, articles, reviews, and technical reports in such fields as special education, psychological testing, linguistics, infant education, and behavioral management; his enthusiasm, dedication, and expertise will be greatly missed by his colleagues in the school district; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend Dr. Allen R. Sullivan for his many years of outstanding service to the Dallas Independent School District and extend to him best wishes for the retirement years ahead; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
