SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 135
In Memory
of
Thomas Neal
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
citizens of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Deacon Thomas Neal,
who died August 1, 2005, at the age of 72; and
WHEREAS, Tom Neal was a graduate of Central Catholic High
School, Saint Mary's University, and Our Lady of the
Lake University; he retired after a career in teaching business
in John Marshall and John Jay high schools; he was a man of deep
religious faith and commitment and shared his devotion with his
community at Prince of Peace Catholic Church; and
WHEREAS, Thomas Neal was ordained a deacon on May 22, 1983,
and had served at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church since 1988;
he was active in the ACTS community, Saint Vincent de Paul
Society, and the Knights of Columbus; and
WHEREAS, One of his favorite pastimes was the game of golf,
and he participated in the TGIF Golf Association; and
WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, Tom
gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his wisdom and valued
counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and
WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and
grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured
forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby extend sincere
condolences to the bereaved family of Thomas Neal: his beloved
wife of 28 years, Peggy; his children, Glenn, Milessa, Elizabeth,
Kathleen and Garry Nutt, and Mary and Trevor Bayley; and his five
grandchildren; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do
so in memory of Deacon Thomas Neal.
