SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 138
In Memory
of
Hubert McVea
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Hubert "Mac" McVea, who died August 6, 2005, at the age of 78; and WHEREAS, Hubert McVea was born in Nebraska on February 4, 1927; he was a veteran of the United States Navy and had retired from the Energy Management Department at H. E. Butt Grocery Company after 20 years of exemplary service; he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jeanne McVea; and WHEREAS, An active leader in his community, Mac was the vice president of Chapter 1045 of the American Association of Retired Persons and Community Service/Chapter Liaison for State and Community Service; he served as chairman of the Joint City/Council Commission on Elderly Affairs and of the Bexar County S.A.L.T./Triad Council, an organization of senior citizens and law enforcement officials; and WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Mac was a member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd and formerly served as chairman of the church's Property Board; and WHEREAS, Mac McVea was a highly respected gentleman who gave generously of his time to others, and he will long be remembered for his wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel; and WHEREAS, He lived his life to the fullest and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Hubert McVea: his wife, Ruth McVea; his sons and daughter-in-law, Jim McVea and Jason and Sylvia McVea; his stepdaughter, Jane Reese, and her husband, John; his stepson, Frank Hutchinson, and his wife, Kathy; and his two grandchildren; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Hubert McVea.
