SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 139
In Memory
of
Geraldine E. Urso
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
citizens of Bryan-College Station in mourning the loss of
Geraldine E. Urso, who died August 1, 2005, at the age of 52; and
WHEREAS, Geraldine was born in Amarillo on June 1, 1953,
and lived most of her life in College Station; she graduated from
Palo Duro High School in Amarillo in 1971 and attended West Texas
University in Canyon and Texas A&M University; and
WHEREAS, A state employee since 1981, Gerry was the
Bryan-College Station Field Office manager for the Texas
Workers' Compensation Commission; she worked tirelessly for many
years assisting injured workers with their workers' compensation
claims to ensure the workers received their benefits and
understood their rights; and
WHEREAS, Gerry was considered one of the bright lights in
the Bryan-College Station Field Office, and those who knew her
and worked with her will long remember the consummate team player
who was always willing to take on additional work when it was
needed; she was named the commission's Employee of the Year in
1998; and
WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant and a devout
Christian, Gerry was a warm, kind, and gentle woman whose courage
in facing her personal adversity was inspirational to all who
knew her; she was a devoted wife and mother, and she leaves behind
memories that will be treasured forever by her family and many
friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby extend sincere
condolences to the bereaved family of Geraldine E. Urso: her
husband, Sam Urso; her son, Samuel Paul Urso; her daughter,
Soncy Dee Urso; her father and stepmother, Herchel Monroe and
Ruby Faust; and her sister, Twila Moon; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
day, it do so in memory of Geraldine Urso.
