BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

On November 20, 2000, a judgment was awarded in a claim brought against the Texas Department of Criminal Justice by a former employee.  House Bill 114 would provide an appropriation to the Comptroller of Public Accounts to satisfy this judgment.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.
