BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

Currently, there are immigration laws in place that allow a person to legally become a citizen of the United States.  These laws are not effective unless they are enforced.  The country is currently in debate about immigration laws.  This resolution expresses the Texas House of Representative's support for the enforcement of current immigration laws as a first step in resolving current immigration problems.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the committee's opinion that this resolution does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.

ANALYSIS

The resolution points out how not enforcing immigration laws are detrimental to the country and state.  Enforcing immigration laws enhance national security, save valuable tax money and fulfill the will of U.S. citizens.
