A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to payment of certain claims for indigent inmate defense.            
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Rider 3 following the appropriations to Fiscal 
Programs - Comptroller of Public Accounts, page I-28, Chapter 1369, 
Acts of the 79th Legislature, Regular Session, 2005 (the General 
Appropriations Act), is amended to read as follows:
	3.  Appropriation, Payment of Miscellaneous Claims.  In 
addition to amounts appropriated above in Strategy A.1.2, 
Miscellaneous Claims, the Comptroller of Public Accounts is hereby 
appropriated out of other special funds and accounts as 
appropriate, amounts necessary to pay small miscellaneous claims. 
Amounts paid for claims made under Article 26.051, Code of Criminal 
Procedure, may not exceed $50,000 per claim.
	SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives 
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as 
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this 
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this 
Act takes effect on the 91st day after the last day of the 
legislative session.
